How it works:
- Top 12 teams make the playoffs.
- Seeds 1-4 get a bye week.
- Conference champions will always be in the top four even if it requires an adjustment to the final BCS rankings. Win your conference and you are guaranteed a bye week and a 1-3 seed! Note: Conference champion is determined based on final conference record, not overall W/L record. If the top two teams in a conference have the same conference record, then the one that won the H2H game between them will be the conference champion. If more than two conference teams have the same conference record at the top of the conference standings and none of them beat all of the other ones with the same conference record, then the conference champion is determined based on the following tie breakers: 1) Overall W/L% 2) BCS AVG, 3) CPOW, 4) MP, 5) CRPI.
- The final BCS rankings are adjusted to reflect the following playoff seeding:
(1) Conference champions/leaders are seeded 1-3 even if their final BCS score is lower than an at large team.
(2) The 4-12 at large seeds are then based on final BCS ranking.
BCS Rankings
- The BCS formula: The percentage totals of the Conference Power Rankings, the Momentum Poll, and the Computer Rankings are averaged to determine the overall BCS score. The teams’ averages are ranked to produce the BCS Standings. For example:
A = Team A in CPOW poll = 0.833
B = Same team in MP poll = 0.933
C = Same team n Computer Rankings = 0.933
Result: (A+B+C)/3 = Total Score of 0.900
