* The Weighted Drive Performance Ranking is replaced by the Coach's Poll if and only if six or more coaches vote.

How it works:

  • Four teams make the playoffs (no byes).
  • Playoff seeding is entirely based on the final BCS rankings.  The teams ranked 1 – 4 in the final BCS rankings make the playoffs.  1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3.
  • In the first round, the higher seed is rewarded with a home game, but the champiosnhip game is played in a BCS bowl (i.e. neutral field) to simulate the bowl game atmosphere. The ENADD utility will be used to ensure there is no home field endurance advantage in the BCS bowl championship round.

    BCS Rankings
  • BCS Rankings are not published until after week 7 results, but some of the other polls will be published after week 2. Voting in the coach's poll will not be available until week 1 has been played.
  • The BCS formula: The percentage totals of the Coaches Poll (CP), Weighted Divisional Power Rankings (WDP), and the Computer Rankings are averaged to determine the overall BCS score. The teams’ averages are ranked to produce the BCS Standings. For example:
    A = Team is No. 1 in WDP rankings = 1.000
    B = Same team is No. 1 in CP with all voters = 1.000
    C = Same team is No. 3 in Computer Rankings = 0.920
    Result: (A+B+C)/3 = Total Score of 0.973
  • NOTE: To protect the integrity of voting, all votes in the coaches poll after completion of week 12 games will be published. Coaches cannot vote for their team, so all coaches must vote after week 12 games to increase the likelihood that teams are ranked fairly. If participation/ownership drops too much by week 12 (i.e. less than 50% of the league's teams have owners), then the Weighted Drive Performance Poll will replace the coach's poll as 1/3rd of the BCS formula.
