Player Ratings

XFBS player ratings are based on the PNFL minimum and maximums to ensure our players will work with the PNFL play pool; however, we kept out unique split of rookie QBs into dual threat QB (dtQB) and pocket passers (ppQB), rookie WRs into deep-threat flankers (fWR) and possession slot receivers (sWR), rookie LBs into outside linebackers (oLB) and inside/middle linebackers (iLB), and rookie Safeties into free safeties (fS) and strong safeties (sS). This allows coaches to emphasize offensive/defensive types that work best for these players. For example, a coach seeking to implement a spread option offense may find dtQBs and fWRs appealing. A coach that prefers 3 DL defenses may find oLBs and SSs appealing for their defenses to provide more run defense support.

A majority of the recruits will fall within the ratings displayed for their position as shown above; however, our league also makes 'blue chip' players available during recruitment who are at the high end of actuals/potentials for their position. These players are the 'men amongst boys' who generally will become (p)NFL rookies much quicker than other recruits. The 'blue chip' player is a key feature of this league that helps create a collegiate feel to the game.

This rating system was implemented beginning with the 2016 season and updated after the 2026 recruitment (to improve the appeal of underutilized positions. ensure split positions had the same potentials, and make sure safeties were closer in ratings to CBs). Previous seasons used a different ratings system. By the 2020 season all players were 100% within these ratings.
